The Estonian American National Council (EANC) is the nationally elected central organization representing Estonian Americans. The Council could consist of up to 50 members (currently 29), who serve on a volunteer basis and are elected nationally every four years by Americans of Estonian descent.
EANC works to preserve and support the Estonian language, cultural heritage, and community life in the United States; to support Estonian organizations and cultural activities; to promote awareness of Estonia among the American public; and to advocate for the interests of Estonian Americans, including support for the democratic Republic of Estonia.
EANC works closely with other like-minded organizations, including the Joint Baltic American National Committee (JBANC) and the Central and East European Coalition (CEEC), and participates actively in the Estonian World Council (ÜEKN) and represents Estonian Americans in the Global Estonian Cooperation Commission.
EANC is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization sustained through tax-deductible contributions from the Estonian American community. Thanks to generous donations from the community, EANC has been able to support Estonian American organizations, community initiatives, and special projects, and help advance EANC’s mission and goals, including larger recent events, such as sending Estonian choirs and folk dancers from the US to the Estonian National Song and Dance Festival; sponsoring the world renowned Estonian Philharmonic Chamber choir North American tour earlier this year; and supporting the upcoming West Coast Estonian Days Festival.
