June 7, 2019To further unite all Estonians around the world, representatives of the EANC and other Estonian organizations abroad have been meeting in Tallinn this month to build a program around the work of the newly formed nonprofit organization Global Estonians.
Today (May 23) the committee met with Estonia´s Minister of Population Riina Solman, who will be proposing initiatives and committee work to the Estonian government before summer recess.
Consultations have also been held at the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Population Ministry put out the following press release: https://www.siseministeerium.ee
Representing the Estonian American National Council were EANC president Marju Rink-Abel and council member Sirje Kiin, also Estonian World Council president (and EANC council member) Aavo Reinfeldt.
´Global Estonians are all Estonians – those living in Estonia proper and also those abroad,´ said EANC representative Sirje Kiin, when meeting with Population Minister Solman. ´We are extremely pleased the new government coalition has already, in the first weeks of governance,
reached the point where plans are underway to establish a worldwide committee for Estonian cooperation, which just last year was still only at the idea level.´

The meeting was attended also by Tauri Hutt, board member of the NPO Global Estonians.
