In honor of our shared heritage and to reach out to Estonian American communities and individuals, the nationally-elected , and nonprofit Estonian American National Council hosts the online broadcast `A Celebration of Estonia: Üksi pole keegi’ for the Estonian-American community on Saturday, Feb. 27th, 7 pm Eastern / 4 pm Pacific. Register at www.estosite.org for this free event.
EANC is pleased to announce the addition of popular Estonian folk band Curly Strings to its Estonian Independence Day program of talented performers, which already includes acclaimed Estonian pianist Hando Nahkur. The program aims to be a welcoming and inclusive celebration, reminding us that we are all connected, even in these isolating times of pandemic.
The celebration will also feature dancer-choreographer Diina Tamm and vocalist Kristi Roosmaa, in collaboration with The VL Studios. Projects include Estonians around the country, and the world, taking moments of their day to connect through shared beats and melodies. The keynote address will be presented by linguist and respected interpreter Tiina Ets, a longtime active member of the Estonian community in the United States. Tune in for surprise greetings and other moving performances.
The program combines old with new to reflect the theme that our common history, shared love for Estonian culture, and shared hopes for the future, ensure that no one is truly alone. In Estonian, ´Üksi pole keegi` was sung in unison by hundreds of thousands of Estonians at the 2019 national song festival in Tallinn, Estonia and worldwide through video broadcast. As this week of Estonian Independence Day events draws to a close, EANC invites you and yours to this family-friendly online event ‘A Celebration of Estonia – Üksi pole keegi.´
