January 29, 2021Summer 2021 Language Camps for Estonian youth (Applications being accepted)
Language camps for young Estonians living abroad
Organized by the Integration Foundation.
- Camp 1 will be held from July 5 – 15 youngsters whose Estonian skills are elementary.
- Camp 2 will be held from July 19 – 29 for youngsters who speak Estonian at an upper-intermediate level.
- Camp 3 will be held from August 2 – 12 for youngsters who are fluent in Estonian.
It is important that camp attendees are both interested and motivated in terms of studying Estonian and learning about the country’s culture. The camps represent an excellent opportunity for youngsters who live outside of Estonia to take part in purposeful and well-organized language training, to communicate in a camp setting with their Estonian peers, to participate in age-appropriate activities together, to play sports, to come up with their own activities, to go on excursion and discover more about Estonia and its culture.
Register HERE by March 15, 2021.
The Integration Foundation will inform the selected applicants via e-mail by April. Parents/guardians will then be sent contracts, which must be signed and returned to the foundation by May 20.
A signed contract is the only guarantee of a place at a language and culture camp for the child.
Should an opening arise, it will be offered to another child.
The selected camp will provide the participants with an Estonian-language environment in which to communicate and an inviting setting suited to their age, including rooms and space required for group activities, sport, three meals a day and accommodation. The facilities will meet all of the requirements set for camps, including hygiene, catering and accommodation conditions, fire safety, medical assistance, life guards and other staff. The youngsters will also have the chance to stay in touch with their parents/guardians during the camps.
Participants will be selected from the pool of applicants, based on their Estonian skills, motivation, how old they are, where they are from, how long they have lived outside of Estonia and the number of times they have attended camps in the past.
Participation in the camp is free for the child. Every participant must have a health insurance policy (issued in or translated into Estonian, Russian or English) valid in Estonia or the Schengen zone. The costs of travelling to Estonia and obtaining health insurance must be covered by the participant’s parent/ guardian and are not subject to reimbursement by the Integration Foundation.
Prior to the camp we will enter into a contract with the parent/guardian of the participant in which the responsibilities and obligations of the parties shall be agreed upon.
The organization of the camps is financed by the Ministry of Education and Research.
The Integration Foundation would like to draw your attention to the fact that camp organizers will be following the guidelines issued by the Estonian government in response to the spread of COVID-19. This may lead to significant restrictions on the organization of the camps (number of openings, excursions, etc.) or even to their cancellation. You will be informed of any changes in the organization of the camps as soon as it proves necessary to implement them.
