October 16 – October 17 America/St_Louis

On October 16–17, the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra will give the U.S. premiere of piece by Estonian composer Ülo Krigul titled Proteus Pulse. The concerts will be led by another Estonian artist, conductor Kristiina Poska, who is making her St. Louis debut. Krigul will be present for both concerts.
Travel from Estonia to the German Rhineland as conductor Kristiina Poska makes her SLSO debut in a concert that celebrates a variety of European folk music. Poska introduces us to the musical shapeshifting of a new composition by fellow Estonian, Ülo Krigul, and rising-star pianist Marie-Ange Nguci shines in Mozart’s sweet and playful Piano Concerto No. 21. Robert Schumann’s Third Symphony emphasizes the vibrant culture along the Rhine River in Germany, re-imagining folk dances, bucolic scenes, and the grandeur of a cathedral.
