Estonian Parliamentary Elections 2023

Parliamentary elections in Estonia will be held on 5 March 2023. The right to vote abroad applies to Estonian citizens living abroad permanently and to voters who are temporarily staying abroad and are included in the list of voters. The voting period depends on the method by which you choose to cast your ballot (see below), so be sure to have necessary documents ready as soon as possible and check with your local mission for voting dates, if voting in person.

USEFUL REMINDER

• Make sure in due time that your Estonian passport or ID card is valid on the day of voting.
  • Paasport and ID card can be applied for at a self-service portal opens in a new tab or at a foreign representation of the Republic of Estonia. To apply for a passport and an ID card, please find a suitable Estonian foreign mission opens in a new tab and take an identity document with you.
• Make sure you have valid PIN codes that you will need for electronic voting. More information is available here opens in a new tab.
• Voters who live abroad permanently must have a designated electoral district. If you have none, you will not be included in the list of voters. To check whether you have a designated electoral district, please contact [email protected] and provide detailed information about your last place of residence in Estonia.
• If you have never lived in Estonia, please submit the last Estonian address of your parents or grandparents to [email protected].
• When submitting information about your Estonian place of residence, please keep the following in mind:
  • if your address in Estonia is in Tallinn, please specify the district;
  • if your address in Estonia is in Tartu, specify that it is in the city of Tartu; 
  • with locations in other parts of Estonia, please specify the municipality or town; if you do not know the municipality or town, stating the county is sufficient.

Estonian citizens have three options for voting while outside of Estonia:

electronically: You can vote electronically on the website valimised.ee from 09:00 on 27 February until 20:00 on 4 March 2023 (around the clock, Estonia time);

in a foreign representation: It is possible to vote in Estonia’s foreign representations on at least two days between 18 and 23 February 2023. More information on voting is available on the mission’s website;

by mail: To vote by mail, you must send your application to vote to your chosen representation no later than 3 February 2023. More information on voting by mail is available on the website valimised.ee/en opens in a new tab or the website of the representation opens in a new tab.

You can only vote if there is correct electoral district data on record, so it is recommended you make sure your data is up-to-date at the earliest opportunity.

Riigikogu valimised märtsis 2023 – hääletamine välismaal

Eestis toimuvad riigikogu valimised 5. märtsil 2023. Tasub meelde tuletada, et iga inimese hääl valimistel loeb.

Välismaal on hääletamise õigus nii alaliselt välisriigis elavatel Eesti kodanikel kui ka ajutiselt välisriigis viibivatel valijatel, kes on kantud valijate nimekirja. Hääletamine toimub elektrooniliselt, välisesinduses koha peal või kirja teel.
