A global happening
We picked up on the Boston Estonian Society´s call for Estonians to join in this tradition to mark Summer´s peak.
As stated in the BES newsletter:
`The height of the summer season is upon us with the month of August and usually we are planning for and looking forward to getting together on the last days of summer … with an open view to the wide-open ocean. The same water that connects many of us to our family, friends and/or ancestral home far beyond on the Baltic Sea. As mentioned in our July newsletter, the Boston Estonian Society’s Annual Summer Days later this month has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Although we will not be able to gather in person, we invite all our members to unite on The Night of Ancient Bonfires, to be held August 29th. Gather around a bonfire in your backyard, at your relatives or closest COVID-free friends to share in the spirit of sea that unites us.
You can register your get together on the website portal: http://www.ancientlights.eu/en. Even if you are not on river bank, lake shore or ocean beach, light that bonfire. Please send the invitation along to family and friends.
