Baltic Way Anniversary and Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact Commemoration, West Hartford, CT

August 24, 2025 @ 12:00 pm 1:30 pm EDT

Estonians, Latvians, Lithuanians and public welcome to attend this annual annivesary commemoration of the anniversary of the Baltic Way, the human chain of nearly two million Balts, that reached across the three Batic countries from Tallinn to Vilnius on August 23, 1989. Timed to draw attention to the 50th anniversary of the secret protocols of the fateful Molotov-Ribbentrop pact (which divided Europe into spheres of influence), the Baltic Way caught the attention of the worldwide press and proved to bea peaceful yet impactful demonstration demanding freedom for Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, at that time illegally and forcibly occupied by the Soviet Union. The Baatics continued their determined fight for freedom, and were finally able to break free from the Soviet Union in 1991.

36 years after the Baltic Way we continue to remember and honor this united stand for freedom and the rights of sovereign nations.

The welcoming program features music and several etseemed speakers. Organizers encourage the public to wear national folk dress, bring flags, and to also show support for Ukraine and the brave Ukrainian people who continue to fiercely battle the Russian invaders.

Please join us, and show your ethnic pride!
