At times their music combines spoken word and guided divinations\, to offer consultation and health\, high hopes and inspiration. This concert is an evening with masterful Estonian musicians looking to stretch their own creativity.  \n\n\n\nSince 2005 September in Pittsburgh means it’s time to celebrate Jazz Poetry at City of Asylum. This year\, Jazz Poetry 2021 melds all the opportunities of virtual programming with the thrilling return to in-person concerts\, all while speaking to the very core of City of Asylum’s mission to protect and celebrate creative free expression.  \n\n\n\nThere will be 9 completely different concerts including 4 international commissions created specially for Jazz Poetry 2021. And so\, together we celebrate our statehoods as peoples of three independent nations on the coast of the Baltic Sea.  \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nPlease join us for a great party\, featuring traditional and modern notes\, including a traditional village-style party\, guest speakers\, picnic\, pig roast\, professional performers\, group singalongs\, cultural performances\, craft stations\, volleyball\, games for the children\, campfire and campfire activities\, and a wonderful afternoon and evening in nature with family and friends. While we celebrate\, we will be sure to remember that our peoples’ freedom was hard-won\, and we must continue to stand for our cultures\, our communities\, and our rightful place on the world map.  \n\n\n\nJoin us for a pig roast and picnic\, with daytime program featuring greetings from Estonian\, Latvian and Lithuanian representatives\, guest speaker Bradley Woodworth of Baltic Studies Program at Yale University\, and much more. The buffet will include Pig Roast and ethnic dishes\, something for everyone.  Evening program begins around ~ 6:30 pm\, with a live folk music by talents Valev Laube (violin) and Charlie Rauh (guitar)\, and also a beautiful performance by Estonian choreographer/dancer Diina Tamm from Estonia/NYC. We look forward to local musicians and groups to step up to the open mic\, or just chime in by the fire. All are welcome.  The evening simman (village-style dance) promises to be fun for participants and observers alike\, and will be followed by a night-long bonfire with singing\, dancing\, smore’s and more. Plenty of opportunity to mingle\, play volleyball\, socialize\, games and crafts for children\, reminiscing and planning\, camping under the stars\, or exploring the nature-filled Estonian grounds. Overnight   is encouraged; camping chairs are suggested (tables and seating also provided). DESCRIPTION:Dear Estonian society and community leaders – \n \nPlease consider sharing with your communities this call to action to contact Members of Congress regarding this week’s announcement from the White House that certain parties engaged in the construction of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline would be exempt from sanctions that Congress passed into law last year.  EANC and its sister organizations in the Central and East European Coalition have sent a letter to President Biden expressing our concern over the decision\, as we feel waiving these sanctions is a grave mistake. Completion of the pipeline poses many dangers to the security of central and east Europe\, and this to Estonia\, Latvia and Lithuania. For instance\, as travel costs from neighboring countries are under the limit and from more distant countries over the limit\, it will be balanced to be fair to everyone.
