SUMMARY:Online Fundraiser and Auction to benefit LEP 2022 Seattle
DESCRIPTION:LEP 2022 is holding an Online Fundraiser and Auction! \n\n\n\nWhat is it and Why are we doing it? \n\n\n\nWe are doing this online fundraiser and auction to keep up with the expenses of the event. All proceeds will go to assist in reducing ticket prices\, helping keep the event as affordable as possible. Even though the main goal is to raise money\, we have curated a collection of “items” of Estonian heritage and cultural significance. Our hope is that these events strengthen and expand our community by connecting to our Estonian roots— whether through food\, learning of traditions or meeting new friends in a sauna. \n\n\n\nWhen and where does it take place? The virtual fundraiser and auction will take place on the online platform of Bidding Owl\, from Oct. 10-17\, 2022. During that time you will have a chance to buy tickets to both online and in-person events\, classes and experiences which are donated by wonderful people from around the globe. Depending on the item\, a ticket will either be available for direct purchase for a set price\, or the item is up for bid with a set minimum. View on-line items before-hand and strategize your bidding tactics at this BIDDING OWL silent auction to get something special for yourself\, or for someone special to you! \n\n\n\n https://www.biddingowl.com/Auction/home.cfm?auctionID=28214 \n\n\n\nItems will be available for view on Oct 2nd\, 2021.

SUMMARY:A Celebration of the 30th Anniversary of the Restoration of Independence of Estonia\, hosted the Estonian Society of Los Angeles
DESCRIPTION:Program \n12.30 – Arrival\n1 pm – Luncheon\n3 pm – 5pm Docent-led Tour\nThe Estonian Society of Los Angeles is very pleased and honored to celebrate this important milestone for Estonia with a luncheon under the Air Force One at the Reagan Library \nFor Estonia\, a country deeply affected by Russia\,   the words “Mr. Gorbachev\, tear down this wall\,” spoken by U.S. President Ronald Reagan played a very important part in the fight for Estonian independence. It was on June 12\, 1987 that Reagan stood at the Brandenburg Gate and gave what is now known as the Berlin Wall Speech\, viewed by the entire world. The impact of those words is one of the reasons we choose to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the restoration of the Republic of Estonia at The Reagan Library and Museum. \nThe speech included these words:\n“There is one sign the Soviets can make that would be unmistakable\, that would advance dramatically the cause of freedom and peace. General Secretary Gorbachev\, if you seek peace\, if you seek prosperity for the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe\, if you seek liberalization: Come here to this gate! Mr. Gorbachev\, open this gate! Mr. Gorbachev\, tear down this wall!” \nYou can view it here again: https://www.reaganfoundation.org/ronald-reagan/reagan-quotes-speeches/remarks-on-east-west-relations-at-the-brandenburg-gate-in-west-berlin/ \nAlso\, 2021 marks the 40th anniversary of the inauguration of Ronald Reagan as America’s 40th president.  It’s a year of re-examining his legacy\, re-telling one of America’s greatest stories\, re-living a remarkable run as President\, and introducing an icon to a new generation. \nOur celebration includes a special guest and opening speech\, a luncheon under Air Force One\,  a docent-led tour of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and the amazing Air Force One Pavilion\, plus a self-guided tour of the spectacular special exhibit FBI – FROM AL CAPONE TO AL-QAEDA \nSpace is limited. Please buy your tickets now at www.eestiselts.com\nOr please send us your  check payable to Estonian Society of Los Angeles\, and mail it to: 1306 W 24th Street\, Los Angeles\, CA 90007 \nAlso\, if you need transportation within Los Angeles and surrounding area\, please let us know. \nTickets:\nFrom Now until May 23rd \n$ 69 (members of the Estonian Society of Los Angeles)\n$ 89 (non-members) \nFrom May 24th to June 23rd \n$ 85 (members of the Estonian Society of Los Angeles)\n$ 105 (non-members) \nFrom June 24th to August 10th\n$ 99 (members of the Estonian Society of Los Angeles)\n$ 119 (non-members) \nIf you cannot afford the tickets but would like to join us\, we will try not to leave anyone behind. A limited number of sponsored tickets are available. Sponsored by the Venice Institute of Contemporary Art\, the Estonian American Business Alliance and the Estonian Society of Los Angeles.  Please email us details about you privately at renee@estoniaamerica.com \nWe hope you will  join us on Friday\, August 20th  and enjoy our history and the Ronald Reagan Presidential  Library and Museum with a stunning experience of Air Force One! \nContact: Renee Meriste\, EANC council member and president of the Estonian Society of Los Angeles \nrenee@estoniaamerica.com \n \nElagu Eesti!

SUMMARY:Atlantic Council Forum: ´Trusted Connectivity: Securing Digital Infrastructure´ featuring the Prime Minister of Estonia
DESCRIPTION:  \nFollowing consensus at the G7 Leaders’ Summit on countering China’s Belt and Road Initiative\, and ahead of the Tallinn Digital Summit this September\, Prime Minister of Estonia H.E. Kaja Kallas will join the Atlantic Council to discuss how the United States\, European nations\, and their respective industries should collaborate through policy\, law\, and market forces to build trusted connectivity into their emerging digital and physical infrastructure\, using the Three Seas Initiative as a foundational example. \n \n  \nPlease join the Atlantic Council for the second event in the forum “Trusted Connectivity: Securing Digital Infrastructure in an Era of Strategic Com \npetition with China\,” featuring the Prime Minister of Estonia H.E. Kaja Kallas. This event\, co-hosted by the Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security and its Forward Defense practice area\, the Digital Forensic Research Lab\, the Europe Center\, the GeoEconomics Center\, and the GeoTech Center\, will take place on Wednesday\, July 14\, 2021\, from  2:00 p.m. to 3:15 p.m.  EDT via Zoom. To receive the Zoom link\, please register by clicking the REGISTER button above.  \nIn an era defined by both revolutionary technological advancements and accelerating geopolitical competition\, modernizing global infrastructure is not only a profound economic opportunity but also a key security imperative. The Atlantic COuncil´s June 2021 #ACFrontPage event\, featuring President of Estonia H.E. Kersti Kaljulaid and US Deputy National Security Advisor for Cyber and Emerging Technology Anne Neuberger\, introduced the concept of “trusted connectivity” as a strategic framework for democratic nations to incentivize ambitious and interconnected infrastructure projects among the private sector\, and to provide a viable alternative to authoritarian efforts like China’s exploitative Belt and Road Initiative. Yet there remain significant hurdles to implementing this framework. Technological and legal standards\, industries and the products they develop\, and visions for the future of economic vitality\, societal resilience\, and national security are not aligned among many democratic nations. If trusted connectivity is to serve as a key pillar alongside existing US and allied initiatives like Build Back Better World\, the Blue Dot Network\, and the US Innovation and Competition Act\, the United States and its allies and partners need to overcome these obstacles along the path to trusted global infrastructure. \nIn advance of the Tallinn Digital Summit this September\, Prime Minister of Estonia H.E. \nWe hope you can join us for what promises to be an important and timely discussion.  \nTo receive the virtual Zoom link\, please register by clicking the Register Now button below. \n

SUMMARY:Advocate for Baltic Security: Stop the NordStream 2 Pipeline
DESCRIPTION:Dear Estonian society and community leaders – \n \nPlease consider sharing with your communities this call to action to contact Members of Congress regarding this week’s announcement from the White House that certain parties engaged in the construction of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline would be exempt from sanctions that Congress passed into law last year.  EANC and its sister organizations in the Central and East European Coalition have sent a letter to President Biden expressing our concern over the decision\, as we feel waiving these sanctions is a grave mistake. Completion of the pipeline poses many dangers to the security of central and east Europe\, and this to Estonia\, Latvia and Lithuania. We are inviting our constituents to engage with Congress and the White House to ask for reconsideration of this decision.  Below is suggested text to use in forwarding this request to your friends\, colleagues and community members:\n  \n\n\n\nDear Friends of Estonia\,\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nThe recent report issued by the Biden Administration regarding waivers for NordStream2 entities and individuals has drawn major attention from friends of Estonia on Capitol Hill.  In particular\, the Chairman and Ranking Member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee Sens. Robert Menendez (D-NJ) and Jim Risch (R-ID)\, respectively and other bipartisan Senators have issued statements strongly urging the Administration to reconsider its decision regarding the waivers.  The above-mentioned statements are available at https://www.foreign.senate.gov/press/chair/release/chairman-menendez-statement-on-state-departments-nord-stream-2-report- and https://www.foreign.senate.gov/press/ranking/release/risch-biden-and-blinken-are-handing-putin-a-gift-with-ns2-waivers \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nTo further raise the profile of the Nord Stream2 pipeline sanctions\, the Estonian American National Council invites you to contact your elected officials (Senators and Representatives) and request they issue statements or contact the Administration expressing their disapproval of the waivers.  Feel free to use the Action Item and sample letter here for your convenience.  Your communication with your elected officials will denote the importance and urgency to stop the completion of the political pipeline.\n\n \n\n\nEANC thanks you for your support of our advocacy efforts to help ensure security in the Baltic region and beyond!
