SUMMARY:EANC Henrik Visnapuu Culture and Literature Laureates Announced
DESCRIPTION:The Estonian American National Council (EANC)\, in partnership with the Estonian Writers’ Union and Luunja Municipality\, will announce the winners of the EANC Henrik VIsnapuu Cultureand Literature Award. The five excellent nominees were selected from amongst 14 strong candidates. \n\n\n\nThe winners will be announced by press release poste t omedia outlets\, the EANC website and Facebook page. on January 2\, 2026\, the anniversary of Visnapuu’s birth.   \n\n\n\nThe awards will officially be presented at a special event on January 7\, 2026\, starting at 6 pm\, at the Estonian Wrietrs House\, Harju 1\, Tallinn\, Estonia. The public is welcome to attend. We will do our best to provide a live stream of the special event\, which will include words from the jury and from the laureates themselves\, coupled with a performance by songwriter Kalev Vapper.

SUMMARY:Call for Candidates: Nominations being accepted for the EANC Henrik Visnapuu Award
DESCRIPTION:foto: galerii.kirmus.ee\n\n\n\n\nCandidate nominations to the EANC Henrik Visnapuu Award for Literature and Culture will be accepted from January 2 – April 1. This prestigious award recognizes an outstanding work\, research\, or lifetime achievement. The Estonian American National Council (EANC) gives out this award with our Estonian partners\, the Estonian Writers’ Union and the municipality of Luunja.  \n\n\n\nThis year\, we invite nominations for two awards: one honoring a distinguished lifetime contribution and the other celebrating an exceptional cultural achievement by someone newer to their field. The EANC Henrik Visnapuu award recognizes works on Estonian themes—published in Estonian or other languages—in the fields of literature\, music\, theater\, art\, or historical research. Eligible works must have been published or presented in the past two years (2023–2024) either abroad or in Estonia\, with preference given to works by or about the Estonian diaspora and works that promote Estonian culture and history globally. The works do not have to be in the Estonian language\, although it is encouraged. Nominations can be based on a single work\, a series of works\, or a significant and impactful lifetime contribution.  \n\n\n\nCandidate nominations can be submitted by individuals or organizations from Estonia\, the United States\, or other countries.  \n\n\n\nSubmissions should be sent to the Chair of the EANC Visnapuu Award Committee\, Sirje Kiin\, at sirjekiin@hotmail.com\, or submitted using the online candidate nomination form below.
