DESCRIPTION:The Chicago Estonian House welcomes you! \n\n\n\nThe Estonian House’s grounds will be open for our traditional Estonian mid-summer celebration. Park will open at 2:00 pm. We will have a grill-bar (beginning at 4 pm)\, Estonian beer\, games and bonfire. “Eesti Band” from Estonia will perform with the music. Admission is $25 per person (children under 16 years of age\, admitted free). First 100 paid admissions will receive a Eesti Maja logoed string backpack. \n\n\n\nChicago Eesti Maja kutsub!  Tulge tähistame meiega\, traditsiooniline Jaanipidu ootab ees!  Park avatakse kell 14.00. Grillbaar avatakse kell 16\, Eesti õlu\, mängud ja lõke. Esinevad muusikaga “Eesti Band” Eestist. Jah\, meid on küll vähe\, meie maa on väike\, aga teisalt oleme kõik erinevad\, nii nagu on erinevad ka meie tavad\, kombed\, tantsud\, laulud\, pillilood ja murdekeel. Ja erinevad on ka kirevad isiksused meie kõigi suguvõsades. Me peame kokku hoidma. Igaüht oma iseärasustes hindama ja austama\, kõigist hoolima\, neid armastama\, ning\, kui vaja – neile andestama. Vaid nõnda püsime elus\, püsime oma vaba riigina ja ainult nõnda saavad elada meie kultuur\, tavad ja kombed.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe XXVIII Song and XXI Dance Celebration “Iseoma” (“Kinship”)\n\n\n\nThe treasured festival will take place from July 3rd to 6th\, 2025. This acclaimed national event features over 40\,000 choir singers\, orchestral musicians\, folk dancers\, and folk musicians. Estonian-American choirs and dance groups are among them! DESCRIPTION:Tartu Academic Male Choir (TAM) is Coming to the USA!  \n\n\n\nJoin them for a special concert by the Tartu Academic Male Choir from Estonia. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOur fifth and final concert of the tour will be held in New York alongside with The New York Estonian Mixed Choir! \n\n\n\nFounded in 1912\, TAM is the oldest continuously active male choir in Estonia and an important part of our country’s musical tradition. The conductors of the choir are Roland Viilukas and Made Ritsing. \n\n\n\nOn this North American tour\, 30 singers will perform beautiful Estonian and European choral music\, including works by famous composers like Arvo Pärt\, Veljo Tormis\, and many more. \n\n\n\nOur fifth and final concert of the tour will be held in New York alongside with The New York Estonian Mixed Choir! DESCRIPTION:The Connecticut Estonian Society hosts its annual Diaspora Estonia Day with a potluck-style dinner\, a fun afternoon with friends old and new\, and a wonderful documentary about a wonderful Estonian. Join us on  Saturday\, November 8th at 1:30 p.m. at the Romanian Church *formerly Latvian Church) in Manchester\, CT \n\n\n\nWe will join in the global festivities this year to celebrate the 90th birthday of beloved Estonian composer Arvo Pärt.  \n\n\n\nAs in years past\, CES will provide roast pork for the potluck meal and asks guests to bring side dishes\, desserts\, and BYOB.  Please email Leena Kangro at leenakangro@gmail.com to let her know what you can bring.   \n\n\n\nThe donation will be $15 for adults\, while students/children are free.  The program begins at 2:00 p.m.  Program details are below. \n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\nPROGRAM \n\n\n\nWe will watch a documentary about Arvo Pärt entitled Arvo Pärt: Even if I Lose Everything\, which is an intimate portrait that explores the man behind the music\, showing his many sides as he navigates the demands of his legacy.  Once known as the avant-garde firebrand driven from his country by Soviet censorship for his radically prayerful melodies\, Even If I Lose Everything centers on the gentler rhythms of Pärt’s days back home on the eve of his 80th birthday in 2015.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLast week was a time of pride and excitement for all Estonians with two highly-anticipated concerts at Carnegie Hall in New York City on October 23rd and October 24th in the presence of H.E. Mr. Alar Karis\, President of the Republic of Estonia\, and Mrs. Sirje Karis.  This two-day celebration of Estonian composer Arvo Pärt brought together the Grammy award-winning Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir under the direction of Maestro Tõnu Kaljuste\, Estonian Festival Orchestra under the direction of Maestro Paavo Järvi\, world-renowned violinist Midori\, violinist Hans Christian Aavik\, pianist Nico Muhly\, the Trinity Choir\, and the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra.  These performances united audiences from across the United States and beyond in tribute to one of the most influential living composers in the realm of sacred and minimalist music. The New York Times gave very positive reviews of the concerts\, stating “Arvo Pärt Gets the 90th Birthday Concert He Deserves”. \n\n\n\nYou can learn more about Arvo Pärt’s life and music from here (provided by the Arvo Pärt Centre in Estonia\, which combines his personal archive along with an information and music center)\, along with interesting insights about him from Carnegie Hall \n\n\n\nMeeldetuletus – Reminder \n\n\n\nIf you\, or someone you know\, are not yet a member of the Connecticut Estonian Society\, please join us!  It’s a great opportunity to join a close-knit community of Estonian Americans and Estophiles of all ages from Connecticut and surrounding states to celebrate and preserve our Estonian culture and traditions.  To become a member\, or if you are already a member and would like to easily pay your dues\, you can learn more at our website.  Your support is vital for us to provide important programming and maintain our “Eesti Maa” (Connecticut Estonian Grounds) in Andover\, CT\, our beautiful 12-acre property where we have gathered for 60 years.

DESCRIPTION:Lääneranniku Eesti Päevad 2026\n\n\n\nThis summer\, we invite you to join us in San Francisco for the West Coast Estonian Days! \n\n\n\nA celebration of culture and the ways it connects us \n\n\n\nWhat brings us together\, across generations and across distances? Our theme is “Kultuur hoiab meid” or “Carried by Culture.” Culture is the braid of strands that come together – music\, dance\, language\, community\, history\, and resilience – to which we all bring our own ideas\, experiences\, and sensibilities\, but still are held together and sustained by what we share. \n\n\n\nWelcome to new friends and old \n\n\n\nFor over 70 years\, the festival has brought us together – especially from the Los Angeles\, San Francisco\, Portland\, Seattle\, and Vancouver Estonian communities – to sing\, dance\, and share our love for Estonian culture and language.  Next year\, we invite Estonians\, Estonian-Americans\, and friends of Estonia based anywhere in the world to join us in the City by the Bay for a meeting to celebrate the innovative and resilient spirit that unites us across generations. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nPROGRAM: \n\n\n\nSaturday | Rahvapidu in beautiful Marin County\, an outdoor laulu-\, tantsu-\, ja külapidu in honor of Jaanipäev with a European village feel\, for the whole family. \n\n\n\nSunday | Estonians cherish our language a living vehicle for arts and culture. The Festival of Words explores this through a variety of performances and activities. We will also share our culture with the local public at Union Square in a showcase of Estonian song and dance. We’ll close LEP2026 with an elegant Gala Evening\, including dinner\, special performances\, dancing\, and socializing. \n\n\n\nDaily | Late evening pub nights (salakõrts)\, exhibits\, opportunities for special meetings and gatherings\, and kids’ activities! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLEP Festival Pass now on sale!\n\n\n\nThe LEP Festival Pass is now on sale – and from now through the end of February\, it is available at a discount. \n\n\n\nThe pass will give you entrance to all events at the West Coast Estonian Days from Friday\, June 28 to Sunday\, June 30 – three fully packed days of song\, dance\, film\, talks\, networking\, workshops\, exhibits\, the opening reception\, folk festival\, and more in San Francisco. \n\n\n\n(The only exceptions are noted at the link – the Gala Concert is a separate ticket that we look forward to sharing more about in upcoming days. We’re expecting a big turnout\, with friends from across the USA\, Eesti & Canada – including familiar faces from over the years\, and plenty of new friends to meet!     \n\n\n\nWe hope YOU will be there! \n\n\n\nThis year’s camp name\, Ajakaja\, is coincidentally [but fittingly] a palindrome\, symbolizing the “echo of time.”  \n\n\n\nAjakaja calls on us to honor our history\, celebrate enduring traditions\, and recognize the legacy carried forward by every generation of gaidid & skaudid. \n\n\n\n As the years pass\, the spirit of guiding and scouting endures\, echoing across time.
