Between 1939-41, nearly a quarter of the population of the Baltic states is deported to the misery of the Soviet Gulag labor camp system. As the Red Army retreats from the advancing German forces, Stalin orders the mass mobilization of 50,000 Estonian men. Families of those who try to evade are threatened with torture and execution.
Gulag 113 revisits the terrifying journey of one of the survivors: an Estonian-Canadian who endured inhumane suffering in Stalin’s labor camps and made his daring escape on the battlefields of the Eastern Front.
